"The Penthouse 2" Kicks Off With Strong Premiere Ratings; "Beyond Evil" Makes Promising Start

SBS’s “The Penthouse 2” is off to a successful start!

On February 19, the smash hit drama “The Penthouse” returned with its highly-anticipated second season in a brand-new time slot. While the first season of “The Penthouse” aired on Mondays and Tuesdays, “The Penthouse 2” will be airing on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m. KST instead.

Despite the change in air time, “The Penthouse 2” premiered to impressive viewership ratings for its first episode. According to Nielsen Korea, the season premiere scored average nationwide ratings of 16.7 percent and 19.1 percent for its two parts. (For comparison, the first season of the drama premiered to average nationwide ratings of 6.7, 9.2, and 9.1 percent.)

Meanwhile, JTBC’s new drama “Beyond Evil” also got off to a promising start. The psychological thriller scored an average nationwide rating of 4.5 percent, marking a significant increase in viewership compared to its predecessor “Hush” (the drama that previously occupied its time slot), which ended on an average rating of 2.3 percent nationwide.
