3 Reasons To Tune In To Lee Joo Young And Lee Seo Jin's OCN Drama "Times"

OCN will be unveiling their new drama, “Times,” tonight!

“Times” stars Lee Joo Young as Seo Jung In, the daughter of South Korean president Seo Gi Tae (Kim Young Chul), who connects via phone call with a reporter named Lee Jin Woo (Lee Seo Jin) living five years in the past. She tries to use this connection to prevent the death of her father, but stumbles against a dangerous truth in the process.

Here are three reasons to tune into OCN’s exciting new drama:

Five-year time warp (feat. the butterfly effect)

The central plot point of “Times” is the time-warp between 2015, where Lee Jin Woo lives, and 2020, where Seo Jung In lives. Each of them must work in their own timeline to try and change the future for Lee Jin Woo and the past for Seo Jung In. Seo Jung In is trying to save the life of her beloved father, Seo Gi Tae, but Lee Jin Woo is also trying to save his own life after learning of his future death. But changing time comes with a cost, with the so-called “butterfly effect” creating unexpected changes in the flow of events.

The actors said, “The two cases in different times share a subtle connection, and the drama is structured so that it’s easy to follow both timelines.” The director said, “We tried to make the unrealistic ‘time-warp’ idea as realistic as possible. The story can feel heavy at first glance, but we did our best to tell the story in a refreshing way.”

Lee Seo Jin and Lee Joo Young’s “contact-free” collaboration

An interesting complication in the drama is that Lee Jin Woo and Seo Jung In must work together without ever seeing each other face-to-face. They cannot meet in person because they live in different timelines, so their collaboration to change their past/future takes place entirely over the phone. Seo Jung In, who knows how things went down in the past, has to give Lee Jin Woo the information about the movements of the person who killed her father, as well as the information about the accident that killed Lee Jin Woo. Lee Jin Woo then has to act on that information to prevent both events from happening.

Despite never seeing each other face-to-face, the two actors brought to life their character’s frictions and tensions as they navigate their unusual relationship. The production staff shared that a key point for the drama was witnessing the bickering back-and-forth between the brash reporter Lee Jin Woo and the more reserved but passionate Seo Jung In.

Acting veterans a.k.a. scene-stealers

Although Lee Seo Jin and Lee Joo Young are the stars of the drama, “Times” packs plenty of talent into its supporting cast. Kim Young Chul is an acting veteran who brings to life the character of Seo Gi Tae, the South Korean president who plays a key role in both timelines. Moon Jung Hee also steals the show as Kim Young Joo, Seo Gi Tae’s political advisor and his successor as presidential candidate. Add to this mix Song Young Chang, who plays former president Baek Gyu Min, and Yoo Sung Joo, who plays National Assembly member Nam Sung Bum.

Helping 2015’s Lee Jin Woo at his news outlet “Times” and 2020’s Seo Jung In at her news outlet “Daily Search” are Do Young Jae (Kim In Kwon) and Myung Soo Kyung (Moon Ji In). Shim Hyung Tak plays Han Do Kyung, a police detective and Lee Jin Woo’s friend of 30 years.

“Times” premieres on February 20 at 10:30 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
