“Produce 101” Series PD And CP Receive Finalized Prison Sentences For Vote Manipulation At Supreme Court
Prison sentences have been confirmed for PD (producing director) Ahn Joon Young and CP (chief producer) Kim Yong Bum of the “Produce 101” series.
Production team staff and agency representatives were indicted in December 2019 on charges including obstruction of business and fraud for manipulating votes in all four seasons of the survival program.
Previously in May 2020, Ahn Joon Young was sentenced to two years in prison along with a fine, and Kim Yong Bum was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison. The trial of appeals in November 2020 upheld the original sentences, and they filed petitions of appeal again, taking the case to the Supreme Court.
At the Supreme Court on March 11, their sentences were finalized. Ahn Joon Young is sentenced to two years in prison along with a fine of 37 million won (approximately $32,585), while Kim Yong Bum is sentenced to one year and eight months in prison. Five agency representatives also maintained their original sentences of eight months in prison suspended for two years.
