Lee Do Hyun, Go Min Si, Lee Sang Yi, Geum Sae Rok, And More Join Script Reading For Upcoming Drama
On March 17, KBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “Youth of May” (literal translation) released photos from the script reading with the cast!
“Youth of May” is about Hwang Hee Tae (Lee Do Hyun) and Kim Myung Hee (Go Min Si), who have a fateful meeting in the middle of the whirlwind of events that takes place in May 1980, a historically significant time period in South Korea.
Attending the script reading were director Song Min Yeob, writer Lee Kang, and cast members Lee Do Hyun, Go Min Si, Lee Sang Yi, Geum Sae Rok, Oh Man Seok, Uhm Hyo Seop, Kim Won Hae, Hwang Young Hee, and Shim Yi Young.
Before the reading began, director Song Min Yeob said, “I’ll work hard to tell the story of love and youth that our drama is striving to express. More than anything else, I hope that we can end the shoot safely without anyone getting hurt.”
Screenwriter Lee Kang added, “Whenever I write a script, I sit down with the mindset of writing a letter. I feel like I’ve gotten the reply to those letters now. The chemistry between the actors is so good that it gives me new life to work on the project.”
Lee Do Hyun’s character, Hwang Hee Tae, is a medical student who has a sly and mischievous side, but is determined and driven underneath. Go Min Si’s character, Kim Myung Hee, is a nurse three years into her career who has gone through all manner of hardships.
Lee Sang Yi and Geum Sae Rok play the siblings Lee Soo Chan and Lee Soo Ryeon. Lee Soo Chan is warmhearted and carries the responsibility of being the older sibling and carrying on the family business, while Lee Soo Ryeon is an easygoing law student from a wealthy family.
“Youth of May” will premiere in May 2021.
