Berry Good's Johyun Clarifies Comments About Group's Current Status

Berry Good’s Johyun clarified that she misspoke in an interview when she implied that the group had disbanded.

On March 19, Johyun participated in an interview for the movie “Hypnosis.” In the interview, she rated her acting 5 points and explained, “I’ve stopped doing idol promotions, but I don’t want to give up on the path to becoming an actor. I’m reading and studying in order to improve my acting, so I want to compliment myself on that.”

When the interviewer asked her about the meaning of “I’ve stopped doing idol promotions,” Johyun replied, “Right now, the members’ contract periods have ended. I don’t know if there are plans to promote as a group. I’m preparing to go solo and I think that I will still promote as a singer.”

After the interview, Berry Good’s agency, JTG Entertainment, denied that Berry Good was disbanding and said, “The group intends to keep working in multiple areas. Johyun has some time left on her contract and is promoting as both an actor and a singer. She is flourishing in her career as an entertainer. The group is not disbanding.”

Berry Good’s Sehyung also uploaded an Instagram post in which she shared photos of herself golfing and the caption, “Very Berry [fanclub name], don’t worry and have a happy day!”

On March 20, Johyun clarified her interview comments in an Instagram post.

Hello, this is Johyun.

I am writing this because I have something to say to our loving fans, as well as to reporters and those people working hard on behalf of the film “Hypnosis.”

First, in regard to the content in the news report, I think that I misunderstood the question’s point before I replied, so I want to set things right and give a concrete explanation.

I meant to explain that because right now I am doing more solo promotions than I am doing idol promotions, I intend to keep working hard on solo promotions. I think that I expressed myself badly there, so I apologize to the reporters.

Furthermore, I think that there have been some mistaken reports about our contracts, so I want to clarify this. I meant to say that two of the members had left the team after their contracts expired, and I sincerely apologize for misspeaking and saying that Berry Good’s contract has expired instead. JTG Entertainment and I have a good relationship and we are working hard together and we will continue to show active promotions in future.

However, reports made it seem like my contract with the agency had expired and that I wasn’t on good terms with my agency, so I want to correct those errors.

This was an interview about the movie “Hypnosis,” so I regretted that most of the articles ended up being about my comments about idol promotions. I wrote this so that I could share the exact facts and also my feelings about this.

Thank you to the reporters, the PR team, and the people working hard on the film. I will become an actor who works even harder from now on. Thank you.

Berry Good debuted as a five-member girl group in 2014 with the single album “Love Letter.” The group then went through some lineup changes before ending up with four members: Johyun, Seoyul, Sehyung, and Gowoon. In February 2021, Gowoon and Seoyul left the team after their contracts expired.
