Super Junior's Kyuhyun Opens Up About A Past Breakup

While sharing his thoughts on breakup etiquette, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun talked about a past experience of his own.

On the latest episode of JTBC’s “Mystical Record Shop” (literal translation), Yoon Jong Shin asked fellow MC Kyuhyun, “How do you break up with someone?”

Kyuhyun immediately replied, “You have to talk about it, of course.” Then, noticing that the other three MCs were all remaining silent, he protested with a laugh, “Why are you all looking at me?”

When Yoon Jong Shin asked if no one had ever broken up with him, Kyuhyun said, “No, I’ve been dumped before.” He added, “I feel like you should probably meet with someone in person or call them on the phone to break up with them, [instead of just texting].”

Yoon Jong Shin commented, “I think that back in my day, everyone met up in person when they were breaking up.”

Kyuhyun went on to recall, “When I was dumped in my first year of high school, my ex told me over the phone, ‘Let’s break up.’ So I said, ‘No, let’s meet in person and talk about it, even if we do end up breaking up.'”

“So we met up, but I realized that in the end, you become even sadder if you meet in person,” he continued with a sad smile. “It actually might be better to just end things over the phone.”
