Jeon So Nee, Ki Do Hoon, Kim Woo Seok, And More Talk About The Message Of Their New Drama

On March 22, TVing’s first original drama, “Scripting Your Destiny,” held an online press conference.

“Scripting Your Destiny” is a fantasy romance drama about a god named Shin Ho Yoon (Ki Do Hoon), who writes the fates of humans. In order to create the romance of the century, he secretly gets inspiration from the work of a makjang (extreme) drama screenwriter named Go Che Kyung (Jeon So Nee).

Director Kim Byung Soo said, “I wanted to make a bright and healthy drama in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. This drama has no toxic or evil characters. It’s a fun and refreshing drama that anyone can enjoy watching.”

Kim Eun Sook, a well-known drama screenwriter who has written projects like “Descendants of the Sun,” “Mr. Sunshine,” and “Goblin,” participated in the drama as a creator. Director Kim Byung Soo explained, “The screenwriter for [‘Scripting Your Destiny’], Eun Sun Woo, is a close junior of Kim Eun Sook and worked with her for a long time. Therefore, Kim Eun Sook gave us a lot of advice during the initial planning process. In discussions with me, she shared some unique ideas about the drama’s tone and manner.”

Jeon So Nee said, “At this moment, I wanted to do a project that people could watch with light hearts. You might think that ‘Scripting Your Destiny’ is a lot of work because it’s about gods, but this god doesn’t know anything about dating and has to borrow from a human’s work in order to write their fate. Of course, this doesn’t go over very well, so it’s a fun and relatable drama to watch.”

She added, “I wanted people to notice the difference as soon as they saw me, so I changed my hairstyle. This is the first time I’ve played such a healthy and energetic character, so I wanted to look different on the outside as well.”

About casting Ki Do Hoon, Kim Byung Soo said, “When casting a god, it’s important to cast someone with visuals that are out of this world. I cast Ki Do Hoon and Park Sang Nam on that basis. Kim Woo Seok looks exactly like his character, Jung Ba Reum, would suggest [in Korean, this name means ‘upright’ or ‘correct’].”

Ki Do Hoon said, “During the audition process, I felt that there were parts of Ho Yoon that I could relate to. The director gave me the courage I needed to take on the role. I thought a lot about how a god might go about his life. I focused a lot on that, so I don’t know what it will look like from a viewer’s perspective. Please tune in and let me know.”

“Scripting Your Destiny” will be released on TVing on March 26 at 4 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
