Watch: Idol Drama

KBS’s upcoming drama “Imitation” released a new behind-the-scenes video!

“Imitation” is a drama based on a hit webtoon of the same name and follows the lives of idols in the competitive entertainment industry. The story centers around three fictional idol groups called Tea Party, SHAX, and Sparkling and the romance between Tea Party’s Lee Ma Ha (Jung Ji So) and SHAX’s Kwon Ryuk (U-KISS’s Lee Jun Young).

In the new making-of video, Lee Jun Young introduces his character Kwon Ryuk. He shares, “I’m embarrassed to say this myself, but Kwon Ryuk is at the top among idols and is an unbelievable character that is perfect in every way from popularity to skills.” He adds, “We’re having a lot of fun filming, and I’m working hard on filming while developing the character since it’s my first time playing the main character. Since it’s a story about us, I’m thinking hard about how we can portray a good and honest view of idols.”

Jung Ji So says, “Lee Ma Ha is a character who dreams of becoming an idol, and she firmly overcomes all adversities and hardships in order to stoutly achieve her dream.”

Behind the scenes, the Tea Party members Lim Nayoung and Minseo joke around that they’re like Jung Ji So’s parents because of their height difference. Minseo adds that she’ll come and threaten people if Jung Ji So were to get in fight. Minseo is also disappointed to leave the set first, but when the director asks if she wants to get wet from the rain, Minseo comments, “Ah, that’s a bit…I’m not loyal.”

T-ara’s Jiyeon also shares insight into her role of La Ri Ma. She explains, “La Ri Ma is a confident, active, and very charming person. She’s a top solo artist that’s very popular in Korea. Since the original webtoon received a lot of love, I’m working hard to deliver the charm of her character as is.”

ATEEZ’s Yunho plays Sparkling’s Yu Jin. He elaborates, “I’m Ma Ha’s close friend, and although I look soft and gentle on the outside, I’m a character who’s sturdy on the inside like an iron hand in a velvet glove.” Yunho adds, “First of all, it’s such an honor to work with many senior idols, and since it’s the first day of filming, I’ll work even harder in the future as Yu Jin.” Finally, the actors ask viewers to love and support the drama before saying goodbye with adorable poses.
