Han So Hee’s Agency Denies Report Of Her Being Cast In Upcoming Drama “Island”
Han So Hee’s agency clarified that the actress was not cast in the upcoming drama “Island” (literal title).
On May 12, SPOTV News reported that Han So Hee had been selected as the female lead for “Island.” However, this information has been proven false. A source from Han So Hee’s agency 9AtoEntertainment stated, “[The news] of Han So Hee starring in ‘Island’ is groundless. It’s a false report.”
Sources from OCN and Studio Dragon also clarified, “The female lead of ‘Island’ has yet to be decided. The report in question is false.”
“Island” is a fantasy exorcism drama based on a webtoon of the same name. It will tell the story of Pan, who needs a woman to end his cursed immortal life, and Won Mi Ho, the daughter of a rich family who is being targeted by goblins. The two are joined by exorcist priest John who is consumed by the guilt of having been unable to protect one girl. On the island that possesses an evil darkness despite its beauty, the three characters who seem unlikely to get along will gather their strength to protect each other.
Kim Nam Gil is confirmed to take on the role of the male lead Pan, and ASTRO‘s Cha Eun Woo is currently in talks and positively reviewing an offer for a role. Initially, Seo Ye Ji had been in talks for the upcoming OCN drama. However, she was swept up in a controversy about her alleged manipulation of Kim Jung Hyun‘s behavior in 2018. The production team and agency mutually agreed for Seo Ye Ji to withdraw from the drama. The drama is now in the process of casting a new female lead, and the production team is reportedly in discussion with several actresses. Although it is rumored that the production team is planning to wrap up the casting process this month or early June, their plans may still be delayed.
“Island” will begin production in summer, and the broadcast schedule has yet to be decided. Sports Donga reports that around 20 billion won (approximately $17.8 million) is being invested in production costs from both domestic and overseas sources.
