CL, Yoo Hee Yeol, Lee Sang Soon, And More Confirmed As Judges For “Super Band 2”
JTBC is returning with a second season of “Super Band” and an exciting new lineup of judges!
On May 26, JTBC confirmed that “Super Band 2” would be premiering on Monday, June 21. “Super Band” first premiered in 2019 and is the third music project by the producers of “Hidden Singer” and “Phantom Singer.” The audition program invites musicians from all genres, regardless of their age, nationality, academic background, or gender, to find their musical companions, create “super bands,” and compete against one another.
Season 1 producers Yoon Jong Shin and Yoon Sang will return to the show for Season 2, and they’ll be joined by new judges Yoo Hee Yeol, Lee Sang Soon, and CL. The program will be hosted by Jun Hyun Moo, who also hosted Season 1.
Yoon Jong Shin, Yoon Sang, and Yoo Hee Yeol have all had previous experience with audition programs such as “Superstar K,” “Phantom Singer,” “Birth of a Great Star,” “K-Pop Star, and “Sing Again.” As singers of two different styles, viewers can look forward to the chemistry between Yoon Jong Shin and Yoo Hee Yeol, who are working together on an audition program for the first time.
Talented guitarist Lee Sang Soon will also be joining the lineup of judges. He has previously shown off his producing talents while promoting in his rock band Roller Coaster, as well as Verandah Project, a project duo he formed with legendary Korean singer Kim Dong Ryul. He’s also well-known for being Lee Hyori‘s husband and has showcased his warm personality on the couple’s program “Hyori’s Homestay.”
The final judge for “Super Band 2” is none other than CL, who traveled back to Korea from the United States just to join the show. With CL’s global perspective and insight, she will add depth to the program.
After five rounds of auditions, “Super Band 2” wrapped up their search for contestants on May 9. The contestants will include musicians of all different backgrounds, performing classical music, K-pop, rock, EDM, hip hop, musicals, jazz, and more. Unlike Season 1, “Super Band 2” will feature many more female musicians.
“Super Band 2” premieres on June 21 at 9 p.m. KST.
