“Butter” has topped Billboard’s Hot 100 for a record-smashing fourth consecutive week!

On June 21 local time, Billboard announced that BTS’s single “Butter” had topped the Hot 100 (Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most popular songs in the United States) for the fourth week in a row.

“Butter” is now BTS’s longest-running song at No. 1 on the Hot 100. The single was released on May 21, debuted at No. 1 on the chart for the week of June 5, and has remained at No. 1 on the chart ever since. In 2020, BTS’s “Dynamite” topped the chart a total of three times, but now “Butter” has broken that record by topping the chart a total of four times, all of them in consecutive weeks. This is also the record for the longest-running No. 1 hit by any Asian act.

According to Billboard, “Butter” is also just the 13th song to spend its first four weeks at No. 1 out of all the 54 songs in history that have debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100. It is also the first song to do so in 2021 since Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” in January, as well as the first song by a group since Aerosmith in 1998.

Billboard’s records show that “Butter” garnered 12.5 million U.S. streams and 111,400 downloads in the week ending on June 17, as well as 25.8 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week ending on June 20, a 6 percent increase. “Butter” is also the top-selling song of the week, topping the Digital Song Sales chart and placing No. 24 and No. 25 on the Streaming Songs and Radio Songs charts respectively.

“Butter” topped the Global Excl. U.S. chart for the fourth week in a row and placed second for the second week on the Global 200.

This week’s Hot 100 is for the week dated June 26. The full charts will update on Billboard on June 22 local time.

Congratulations to BTS!
