Former Soldier Park Goon Shares What Lee Seung Gi Was Like In The Special Forces
On the June 27 episode of SBS’s “Master in the House,” the cast met their new master, who works with the Korea Coast Guard. Appearing as a guest on this episode was Park Goon, a former professional soldier who debuted as a trot singer in 2019.
Park Goon and Lee Seung Gi shared that they had met before as an officer and soldier in the Special Forces, where Lee Seung Gi spent his mandatory military service. Park Goon gave his opinion as an officer of Lee Seung Gi, saying, “He was really the model soldier. He was an elite soldier. He received full marks in all the physical examinations.”
He added, “We once did a 10 kilometer (about 6.21 miles) marathon with 1000 people, and he placed in the top 100. Most of the other people in the top 100 were professional athletes, but Lee Seung Gi ranked among them. According to military hierarchy, I called him Sergeant Lee Seung Gi, but in civil life, I’m going to treat him like a senior since he debuted 16 years before me.”
Lee Seung Gi, who is known for taking great pride in the time he spent in the military, couldn’t conceal his happiness. He shared, “Whenever we did events in the military, Park Goon was really popular. He has a lot of stage presence. When I was a civilian again, I was surprised to see my former superior officer appear on TV and receive so much love from the public. When we were in the military together, I never imagined that he would debut as a singer.”
