Song Joong Ki Tests Negative For COVID-19 + Goes Into Self-Quarantine

Song Joong Ki is currently in self-quarantine after coming in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

On July 2, one industry representative reported, “On June 30, an acquaintance of Song Joong Ki was confirmed [to have the virus], and Song Joong Ki was immediately contacted [by the the disease prevention authorities], so he went to get tested. Fortunately, he tested negative, but just in case, he entered self-quarantine right after the pre-emptive testing. He was classified as a close contact of a confirmed case on July 1, and he is still in self-quarantine.”

They added, “Everyone who recently came in contact with Song Joong Ki was also tested, and fortunately, they all tested negative. Due to being classified as a close contact of a confirmed case and going into self-quarantine, his schedule is also being cancelled.”

Later on the same day, Song Joong Ki’s agency HISTORY D&C released the following statement:

Hello, this is HISTORY D&C.

On June 30, an acquaintance of actor Song Joong Ki was informed that they have tested positive for COVID-19, so he cancelled his schedule and underwent pre-emptive testing.

Although he tested negative, he was classified as a close contact and was ordered to go into self-quarantine. Therefore, we will halt all his scheduled activities and follow the instructions of the disease prevention authorities.

We ask for your understanding for causing concern to many people, and we will do our best to follow the directions and guidelines from the disease prevention authorities.

Song Joong Ki has paused filming his upcoming movie “Bogotá,” which resumed filming in Korea on June 21. The actor is currently in talks to star in a revenge drama titled “Chaebol Family’s Youngest Son” (literal title).
