BTS To Perform At Worldwide 24-Hour Special Event

BTS has been named as one of the performers of the upcoming special event known as “Global Citizen Live.”

“Global Citizen Live” is a 24-hour special event that is scheduled for September 26 and will be broadcast live from various cities across six continents (Lagos, London, Los Angeles, New York City, Paris, Rio, Seoul, and Sydney).

It is hosted by the philanthropic organization Global Citizen. In a Variety report, the organization stated that the “broadcast/webcast will truly be mostly live throughout most of those 24 hours, with musicians or speakers on six continents in front of audiences everywhere from New York’s Central Park to the Champ de Mars in Paris… to Seoul.” However, the potential presence of a live audience for each performer depends on the COVID-19 restrictions present at that time in that location.

The current list of performers include BTS, Ed Sheeran, the Weeknd, Lorde, Metallica, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Duran Duran, Keith Urban, Andrea Bocelli, Green Day, H.E.R., Demi Lovato, Coldplay, Adam Lambert, Usher, Lang Lang, Burna Boy, Femi Kuti, the Lumineers, Christine and the Queens, Angélique Kidjo, Ricky Martin, Alessia Cara, Rag’n’Bone Man, DJ Snake, Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness. More artists will be announced on August 6.

The event is meant to raise awareness and solicit big-donor (e.g. corporations, world leaders, privileged business leaders) funds for fighting against poverty, climate change, and international vaccine inequity.

“Global Citizen Live” will air via a 24-hour live broadcast feed that goes all around the world. It will air live for six hours on the channel BBC, while ABC and Disney will cover the show via their own platforms. iHeartRadio will also cover the event in North America. More details about the broadcast will be revealed on August 3.
