Update: Kim Young Dae's Agency States He Is Leaving "School 2021" Cast + Drama Comments In Response

The “School 2021” production team has responded to Kim Young Dae’s agency saying that the actor will no longer be starring in the upcoming drama.

The statement released on July 15 reads as follows:

Actor Kim Young Dae, who was cast in “School 2021,” signed a contract to star in the drama and also attended main actor meetings and script reading practice sessions. While preparing for the first filming session in July, his agency suddenly expressed that the actor will be leaving the drama without negotiating with the production team.

The production team and KBS have not agreed to actor Kim Young Dae’s departure [from the drama], and we are working to reach an amicable settlement.

It is unfortunate that articles about [Kim Young Dae] starring in a different program were released simultaneously with articles about him leaving [“School 2021”] without officially discussing with the program’s production team.

Kim Young Dae has left the cast of KBS 2TV’s upcoming drama “School 2021.”

Back in May, it was confirmed that the actor would be joining WEi’s Kim Yo Han in “School 2021.” Kim Young Dae was going to play Jung Young Joo, a transfer student with a hidden story and a past connection to Gong Ki Joon (Kim Yo Han).

According to an industry representative, Kim Young Dae decided to step down because things were different from what was originally discussed. Therefore, the drama is searching for another actor to replace him and take the role of Jung Young Joo.

On July 15, the actor’s agency Outer Korea officially confirmed, “It is true that Kim Young Dae has stepped down from ‘School 2021.'”

“School 2021” will be about young adults who choose different paths instead of just preparing for college entrance exams. The drama will portray the dreams, friendships, excitement, and growth of the 18-year-old youths standing in front of an uncertain future. Cho Yi Hyun and Hwang Bo Reum Byeol will be joining as leading roles.

“School 2021” is slated to air in the second half of this year.
