Jo Byeong Gyu’s Agency Says That The People Who Accused Him Of School Violence Have Apologized
Jo Byeong Gyu’s agency stated that the people who accused the actor of school violence have admitted to lying and officially apologized for their actions.
In February, someone who claimed to be a former classmate at Jo Byeong Gyu’s high school in New Zealand alleged that Jo Byeong Gyu had engaged in verbal abuse and obscene jokes during his time at school. Jo Byeong Gyu’s agency denied the claims and the poster subsequently apologized and deleted the post. However, a different person wrote another post alleging that Jo Byeong Gyu had bullied them in elementary and middle school, which Jo Byeong Gyu also denied. His agency declared legal action against all claims that Jo Byeong Gyu had perpetrated school violence, and the actor also personally addressed the allegations. There have been other posters related to the claims, and one of them alleged that Jo Byeong Gyu’s agency had threatened them, which Jo Byeong Gyu personally denied.
On July 27, Jo Byeong Gyu’s agency released the following statement:
Hello, this is HB Entertainment.
This is our statement on the reports that have come out today about our agency’s actor Jo Byeong Gyu.
The agency took legal action against the people who claimed Jo Byeong Gyu was a perpetrator of school violence without evidence. During the police investigation, the suspects admitted that what they had posted online was false, and they recently sent us an official apology in deep reflection on their actions.
During the investigation, Jo Byeong Gyu submitted his student records and testimonies from several of his classmates and the teachers who closely watched over him during his school days as evidence.
As for the anonymous poster who resides overseas, the police identified them in their investigation, and legal procedures will continue when the suspect enters Korea.
We will continue to actively pursue legal action against those who post malicious comments and claims without evidence about Jo Byeong Gyu.
Last month, it was reported that Jo Byeong Gyu was in talks to star in a new drama.
