Veteran Actress Kim Min Kyung Passes Away

Veteran actress Kim Min Kyung has passed away at the age of 61.

On August 17, her agency, DaHong Entertainment, confirmed, “Kim Min Kyung passed away yesterday (August 16).” She is currently laid to rest at a hospital in Seoul and her funeral will take place on August 18.

Born in 1960, Kim Min Kyung began acting in a theatrical troupe in 1979 and appeared in dozens of projects throughout her career of more than 40 years. She won the newcomer award at the Korea Theater Festival in 1981. In plays, dramas, and movies, she often played the role of long-suffering but understanding mothers.

Some of her movies include “Tazza,” “Someone Behind You,” “Where the Truth Lies,” “Microhabitat,” and more. Some of her dramas include “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” “The Flower in Prison,” “When the Camellia Blooms,” “VIP,” “Nobody Knows,” “Eccentric! Chef Moon,” and more. Her most recent projects include the dramas “Mouse” and “A Good Supper” and the movie “Pipeline.” Two of her movies, “Spiritwalker” and “1947 Boston,” have yet to be released.
