The first match-up of Round 2 was between Our House and Rubber Shoes. Our House sang 2PM’s “My House” and impressed the panelists with his clear vocal tone and relaxed stage presence. Rubber Shoes sang Lim Hee Sook’s “The Only One For Me Has Gone” (literal translation) and showed off his deep emotional range.

With 16 votes to 5, Rubber Shoes advanced to Round 3 and Our House unmasked to reveal himself as Golden Child’s lead vocalist Seungmin.

Seungmin shared that his goal for “The King of Mask Singer” was to make panelist Yoo Young Suk, who is a musician, singer-songwriter, and professional music judge, into “Golden Child’s father.” He said, “When contestants sing well, his reaction is really good. I like when he shows his warm eye-smile. I wanted to receive that expression just once.”

Seungmin also talked about his current concerns about his voice. “I have a high, young-sounding voice, so I’m worried that I don’t have a profound appeal,” he said. Choi Sung Soo, another panelist who is also a singer-songwriter, assured him, “I had the same concern when I was in my 20s. I also have a high-pitched, thin voice, but when I tried to change it on purpose, it didn’t go well. Seungmin shouldn’t try to change it either. Your own voice has its own appeal and it’s good.”

Finally, Seungmin shared his future goal, saying, “Golden Child made a comeback with our second studio album. I hope that we can continue to have good performances with more people like this.”
