"Girls Planet 999" Reveals Results Of First Elimination Round

On the September 3 episode of Mnet’s “Girls Planet 999,” the first elimination round eliminated 45 contestants from the show.

“Girls Planet 999” is a survival audition show featuring Korean, Chinese, and Japanese contestants who have the same dream of debuting in an idol group despite having different languages and cultures. Their growth as they head toward their goal will unfold in the imaginary world called “Girls Planet.”

For the first elimination, each “cell” would either survive together or be eliminated together. A cell consists of three contestants, one from each nationality (Korean, Chinese, Japanese). The show’s masters have the ability to save one person from an eliminated cell through the “Planet Pass.” Of the 33 cells, only 17 cells would survive. Of the 99 total contestants, 45 were eliminated at the end of the episode.

The show’s MC, Yeo Jin Goo, announced, “We received 39,360,000 votes from over 164 countries during the past two weeks. The five teams who won last week’s Connect Mission will receive a benefit in addition to the global fan votes.”

Yeo Jin Goo then revealed the cells’ rankings, with No. 17 being the cut-off limit for survival. The rankings are as follows:
