In early July, it was reported that Kim Sun Ah was in talks to play a chief prosecutor in the new drama, which will depict the vulgar scandals of Korea’s nobles of the robe (whose rank comes from holding judicial or administrative posts) who dream of hereditary succession.

Newly confirmed for the drama are Ahn Jae Wook, Geum Sae Rok, and Lee Ga Eun, while Lee Mi Sook is still in talks.

Following reports of her appearance, Lee Mi Sook’s representative stated, “‘Fortress of Heaven’ is one of the projects she has been offered. She’s currently in the stage of reviewing the offer.” If Lee Mi Sook accepts the role, it will be the actress’s first drama in three years.

Meanwhile, a representative from Ahn Jae Wook’s agency Jable Entertainment confirmed, “Ahn Jae Wook will be appearing in JTBC’s new drama ‘Fortress of Heaven.'” He will play Na Geun Woo, a caring husband and a former law school professor who gains attention as a presidential candidate, but must hide a big secret.

Geum Sae Rok was reported to be starring in the drama as Hong Nan Hee, and her agency UL Entertainment confirmed the news, stating, “Geum Sae Rok is confirmed to appear in the JTBC drama ‘The Empire: Empire of Law.'” JTBC also commented, “It’s true that she will be appearing.”

Lee Ga Eun, who is currently appearing in tvN’s “High Class,” will be playing the role of law student Jang Ji Yi. Her agency High Entertainment confirmed, “Lee Ga Eun will appear in JTBC’s new drama ‘The Empire: Empire of Law’ as Jang Ji Yi.”
