Lee Young Ae, Kim Hye Joon, Kim Hae Sook, Kwak Sun Young, And More Attend Script Reading For New Drama

JTBC has released photos from the script reading of Lee Young Ae’s upcoming drama!

In March, it was announced that Lee Young Ae was starring in her first TV drama in four years. The drama, “Koo Kyung Yi,” is described as a hard-boiled investigative comedy drama that centers around insurance investigator Koo Kyung Yi, who also investigates cold cases for the thrill of it rather than out of a sense of justice.

At the script reading, which took place in May, were director Lee Jung Heum, writer Sung Cho Yi, and actors Lee Young Ae, Kim Hye Joon, Kim Hae Sook, Kwak Sun Young, Baek Sung Chul, Cho Hyun Chul, and Lee Hong Nae.

Lee Young Ae’s character, Koo Kyung Yi, is an insurance investigator who used to be a police officer, and video games and alcohol are her entire life. The actress walked the fine line between a dark storyline and comedic elements in order to create the unusual character of Koo Kyung Yi, who is different from the “elegant” characters that the actress has played before.

Kim Hye Joon, who rose to fame through Netflix’s “Kingdom” series, plays the mysterious university student Kei. She crosses paths with Koo Kyung Yi, and unlike her bright smile on the outside, no one can tell what she’s thinking inside. Kim Hae Sook plays Director Yong, the chief director of a volunteer and charity foundation. Although she looks warm and benevolent on the outside, she has an aura of her own.

Kwak Sun Young, Baek Sung Cheol, and Jo Hyun Chul are part of “Koo Kyung Yi’s team.” Kwak Sun Young plays Na Je Hi, the head of the investigation team at NT Life, who used to be Koo Kyung Yi’s junior in the police force. Baek Sung Chul plays a gamer who becomes Koo Kyung Yi’s assistant, and Cho Hyun Chul plays Kyung Soo, Koo Kyung Yi’s colleague at NT Life’s investigation team. Lee Hong Nae rounds out the principal cast as Geon Wook, Kei’s assistant.

Lee Young Ae shared, “After I read this script, I thought that I couldn’t pass up this chance.” The production staff stated, “Our drama is a hard-boiled comedy investigation drama about a never-before-seen investigator like Koo Kyung Yi. We intend to make a drama with a unique interest that you won’t see anywhere else, so please look forward to it.”

“Koo Kyung Yi” will air in October.
