SBS’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Lovers of the Red Sky” has been creating lots of buzz with its intriguing plot and unique characters.

Based on the novel of the same name, “Lovers of the Red Sky” is a historical fantasy romance drama starring Kim Yoo Jung as the Joseon dynasty’s only female painter Hong Chun Gi, who was born blind but miraculously regains vision. Ahn Hyo Seop stars as blind astrologer Ha Ram, who is able to read the stars despite losing his sight, while Gong Myung stars as the romantic and free-spirited Prince Yangmyeong, a lover of the arts who falls for Hong Chun Gi.

Honest confession that shook Ha Ram’s heart

Despite the fact that Ha Ram pushed her away due to unspeakable circumstances, Hong Chun Gi revealed her innermost thoughts to him. When Ha Ram expressed his wish that she pretend not to know him, Hong Chun Gi vowed to respect his request. Instead of forcing her feelings onto him, she comforted him with an honest confession.

Brilliant art skills that helped her win the competition

The Maejukheon Art Competition was held pick out the most distinguished painter amongst all the talented artists in the nation. Prince Yangmyeong made it so that the contestants compete with only their skills, regardless of their status or class. In the beginning of the competition, he attempted to eliminate her, and instead of giving up without question, she boldly asked the reason for his harsh criticism of her artwork. Eventually, Hong Chun Gi was given another chance, and she stole everyone’s breath with her amazing drawing that contained her memories with Ha Ram. Viewers couldn’t help but admire the way she spoke her thoughts without cowering and her fantastic painting skills.

Her entrance into Gohwawon (a government office for painters)

Hong Chun Gi has an ill father whom she loves very much. She is nothing but a filial daughter to him, and she went out of her way multiple times to get him the medicine he needs. At the Maejukheon Art Competition, she even saved him from being punished by Prince Juhyang (Kwak Si Yang) and offered to give up her wrist instead. Later on, Hong Chun Gi discovered her father had gone mad after drawing a royal portrait. Hong Chun Gi entered Gohwawon, where she was given the task to restore that same painting. Now that she has entered the palace, what fate awaits Hong Chun Gi?
