Im Soo Hyang, Sung Hoon, Shin Dong Wook, And Hong Ji Yoon Confirm Casting In “Jane The Virgin” Remake
On October 6, Y Tree Company confirmed that the four actors would be starring in a new romantic comedy drama titled “Starting Today, We” (literal translation).
“Starting Today, We” is about a woman named Oh Woo Ri, who is strictly maintaining her chastity before marriage, but ends up pregnant after an accident occurs during a medical exam. It is a Korean remake of the American rom-com “Jane the Virgin,” which is based on a Venezuelan telenovela.
Im Soo Hyang has been cast as Oh Woo Ri, who works as an assistant writer on a makjang drama (a drama with extreme plot twists) that is currently all the rage. Although she ends up with a completely unexpected pregnancy, she is an independent woman who leads her own life through her own choices.
Sung Hoon has been cast as Raphael, the biological father of Oh Woo Ri’s child and the CEO of a cosmetics company. He seems cold and aloof on the outside, but on the inside, he is a romantic who wants to meet his true love and find happiness.
Shin Dong Wook has been cast as Lee Kang Jae, a police detective in the violent crimes department, who lives according to firm convictions and principles. As Oh Woo Ri’s boyfriend, he is a gentleman who respects her choices.
Hong Ji Yoon has been cast as Lee Ma Ri, a woman who is completely fake except for her beautiful looks. She is a calculating woman who intentionally targeted Raphael in order to marry him, but she has an unexpected side of her that makes her difficult to hate.
“Starting Today, We” has recently completed script reading and will move to filming soon.
