tvN’s upcoming drama “Secret Royal Inspector & Joy” has released a highlight reel!

“Secret Royal Inspector & Joy” is a historical comedy drama starring 2PM’s Taecyeon as Ra Yi Eon, a young gourmand who is appointed a secret royal inspector against his will. Kim Hye Yoon co-stars as Kim Jo Yi, a divorced woman searching for happiness who ends up joining forces with him as he travels undercover to local provinces to uncover corruption.

In the highlight reel, the king seeks a new secret royal inspector after his previous ones keep getting killed off. One of his people suggests Ra Yi Eon, a lazy government official who doodles on his scrolls and yawns through meetings. The king decides this is exactly what he’s looking for and summons Ra Yi Eon to the position, to his shock and horror.

In Chungcheon Province, Kim Jo Yi introduces herself by name and declares that she wants to live her own life and not as someone’s wife and daughter-in-law. She gets a divorce from her deadbeat husband after three years of picking up after him and his dirty laundry, and sets out on her own to make a new life for herself.

To prevent himself from getting killed like his predecessors, Ra Yi Eon goes undercover with his two servants. However, he’s not interested in his actual work and wants to go around visiting all the local restaurants, but runs out of money and is forced to live on the streets. He crosses paths with Kim Jo Yi when a body is discovered and she offers to guide him through his investigation, telling him, “You were the one who changed my life.” He muses, “There will come a time when I need to protect myself and those that are precious to me.” The two of them embark on a chaotic, comedic investigation that promises to shake up the eight provinces of Joseon.
