Different Ways Taecyeon And Cha Hak Yeon Try To Win Over Kim Hye Yoon’s Heart In “Secret Royal Inspector & Joy”

A new hurdle is coming to transform Taecyeon and Kim Hye Yoon’s relationship in “Secret Royal Inspector & Joy”!

tvN’s “Secret Royal Inspector & Joy” is a historical comedy drama starring 2PM’s Taecyeon as Ra Yi Eon, a young gourmand who is appointed a secret royal inspector (a government official who travels undercover to local provinces to inspect them and uncover corruption) against his will. Kim Hye Yoon stars as Kim Jo Yi, a divorced woman searching for happiness who winds up joining forces with him to investigate and battle corruption.

While Ra Yi Eon and Kim Jo Yi are enjoying the bliss of their new romance, their relationship will undergo some changes as they meet Jo Yi’s childhood friend Choi Seung Yool (Cha Hak Yeon). Here are three key differences between Ra Yi Eon and Choi Seung Yool’s approach to romance!

Ra Yi Eon – Fatefully becoming a fake couple, a first-time dater, and starting “part 2” of life

When Yi Eon and Jo Yi first meet, the two get off to a bad start. However, Jo Yi’s ability to confront absurdity catches even the well-mannered secret royal inspector Yi Eon off-guard and helps him in his work. In return, Yi Eon gives Jo Yi the gift of freedom by granting her a divorce, marking the starting point of the second part of life for both characters. Although they thought their relationship ended there, the two fatefully reunite at a shrine, falling into a situation where they must pretend to be married and end up having their first kiss.

Following that situation of danger, the two develop a relationship where they protect one another. While Yi Eon has trouble expressing his feelings as a first-time dater, he is still able to make Jo Yi laugh and her heart flutter. When Jo Yi experiences a sad July 7 (in the lunar calendar), Ra Yi Eon keeps his promise to make her happy. After believing he was dead, she greets him with a big hug, and the two confirm their feelings for each other. However, as they’re living in the Joseon era, their identity differences appear to be too stark. While watching Yi Eon command officers, Jo Yi comments, “Oh right, you were a minister.” Viewers can look forward to seeing how their romance develops from here.

Choi Seung Yool – Kind, childhood friend, long-running feelings

Seung Yool is a close childhood friend of Jo Yi’s who was raised in the same hometown. Given that they spent their childhood together, the two share many memories, but they naturally lost touch when Jo Yi got married and moved out of town. In that time, Seung Yool has become the best lawyer in the country, and Jo Yi has gotten a divorce. Seung Yool is unable to hide his happiness at their unpredictable reunion and shows off his caring side as he offers up his home to Jo Yi. His pure, long-running adoration for Jo Yi causes a transformation in her relationship with Ra Yi Eon as Seung Yool expresses disappointment that she didn’t come find him right after her divorce. He comments, “That’s why you should’ve [been] with me from the start,” signaling that he still has feelings for her. Although Jo Yi already has feelings for Ra Yi Eon, stay tuned to see whether Seung Yool is able to seize this opportunity and finally capture her heart.

Ra Yi Eon, a child-like adult vs. Seung Yool, a surprising romanticist

Ra Yi Eon, who loves to play around, often surprises everyone by occasionally showcasing how mature he can be. Especially in front of his first love Jo Yi, he freezes up like a child, but he displays sharp charisma in front of any “villains.” Unlike Ra Yi Eon, Seung Yool is always soft and kind, able to read his clients well, and captures the hearts of all women. With his bold and confident personality and his way with words, Seung Yool holds the title of the nation’s best lawyer but has been unable to confess his feelings to Jo Yi. His surprising shyness and purity have been making viewers’ hearts flutter, and this sparks curiosity regarding who Jo Yi will ultimately pick!

“Secret Royal Inspector & Joy” airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. KST.
