Hook Entertainment And Chorokbaem Media Announce Merger
Entertainment agency Hook Entertainment is starting a new partnership with drama production company Chorokbaem Media!
On December 9, Hook Entertainment made the surprise announcement of a merger with Chorokbaem Media.
Hook Entertainment houses artists like Youn Yuh Jung, Lee Sun Hee, and Lee Seo Jin, and is currently working in partnership with their longtime artist Lee Seung Gi. Chorokbaem Media was established in 1998 and has produced hit dramas like “Jumong,” “High Kick!”, “The Slave Hunters,” “Memories of the Alhambra,” “My Mister,” and “The Penthouse.”
Hook Entertainment has not just been an actor management agency, but has also branched out into content production with SBS’s golf variety show “Team Up 072” season two and KBS’s travel documentary “Can’t Help But Stop Once” (literal translation). The agency has also been active in planning the TV shows that their agency artists appear on.
Hook Entertainment also recently acquired the cable channel K-Star before announcing their merger with Chorokbaem Media. Through these acquisitions and mergers, Hook has declared its intention of moving into the area of content and intellectual property at a time when Korean content is making waves in the global OTT (streaming) market.
CEO Kwon Jin Young of Hook Entertainment said, “We have decided to merge with Chorokbaem Media out of our desire to produce diverse content at a time when Korean content is getting attention from all over the world. We will be taking on this new challenge with the staff members and agency artists who have trusted and had faith in us ever since we first opened our doors as an agency in 2002. We will take this chance to dream even bigger dreams and do our best.”
