Ahn Eun Jin, Red Velvet's Joy, And Kang Ye Won Talk About Their New Drama

The One and Only” co-stars Ahn Eun Jin, Red Velvet’s Joy, and Kang Ye Won recently shot a pictorial together for Elle!

“The One and Only” is an emotional romance drama about three terminally ill women who meet at a hospice. They decide that before they die, they want to take down one bad guy before they go – but in their attempt to take down just one person, they end up meeting the most valuable person of their lives.

Ahn Eun Jin stars as Pyo In Sook, a young woman who grew up in difficult circumstances before being diagnosed with a terminal illness. Joy stars as Sung Mi Do, a popular influencer, and Kang Ye Won stars as Kang Se Yeon, a housewife who gave up having a life of her own for the benefit of her family.

In the interview after the photo shoot, the three actresses talked about working with each other in their upcoming drama.

Ahn Eun Jin showcased their close friendship, saying, “Because (Kang) Ye Won unnie and (Park) Soo Young (Joy’s real name) immediately opened up their hearts, we were able to have fun filming. Even so, there were moments when we shared thoughts about death. It was amazing that we were able to talk about those concerns naturally.”

Concerning her relationship with her co-stars, Kang Ye Won commented, “[Ahn Eun Jin, Park Soo Young, and I] are like friends and sisters.” Then she mentioned “The One and Only,” saying, “It’s charming how [the drama] takes death by the horns. A hospice is not a place that is disengaged from everyday life. It is a society where happiness, pain, and sadness come and go.”

Joy, who returned to the small screen in three years, remarked, “[With acting,] I wanted to draw people’s emotions through the lives of characters on the screen. I like my character Sung Mi Do in ‘The One and Only’ because she’s someone who expresses herself freely.”

Ahn Eun Jin, Joy, and Kang Ye Won’s full interview and pictorial will be released in the January 2022 issue of Elle.

“The One and Only” premieres on December 20 at 11 p.m. KST and will be on Viki.
