Watch: 2PM's Lee Junho And Lee Se Young Keep The Mood Lighthearted While Filming Their Emotional Confession Scene In "The Red Sleeve"
MBC has shared a behind-the-scenes look at Episodes 11 and 12 of “The Red Sleeve”!
“The Red Sleeve” is a historical drama about the imperial romance between crown prince Yi San (played by Lee Junho), who later becomes emperor, and the strong-willed court lady Seong Deok Im (played by Lee Se Young).
The making-of clip starts with Lee Se Young practicing her lines and adorably imitating a puppy. Soon after, the puppy they’re working with arrives, and both Lee Se Young and Junho have lots of fun showering it with affection. Lee Se Young comments, “I can film for another 12 hours today.”
Later, Junho is preparing a serious scene with Lee Deok Hwa. He meticulously runs over each line and movement with the director before giving his all in rehearsals, impressing the crew with his immersion into the scene. As they continue with filming, Lee Deok Hwa recites his lines perfectly in one take, earning applause from everyone on set.
Lee Se Young, Jang Hee Jin, and Seo Hyo Rim gather around Lee Deok Hwa’s script and explore all the comments he’s written on the sides. The trio jokes around as Seo Hyo Rim tells Lee Se Young, “I’ll give you San.” Lee Se Young explains to Jang Hee Jin, “I like the princess. She says she will give me the crown prince.” Jang Hee Jin mishears and hilariously asks, “The King?” Once they notice Lee Deok Hwa has returned, they quickly scurry away from his script, leaving the actor confused.
In the evening, Junho gets ready for the scene where he confesses to Lee Se Young. He discusses with the director how to elevate the scene and jokes, “Deok Im will then just make an outstanding facial expression.”
Junho comments, “This is the scene of ‘I want to become family.’ It’s a confession,” before adding in English, “Propose.” He continues, “I was nervous. She wiped my mouth and put dried ginger in my mouth.” Lee Se Young shares, “First off, I’m really nervous. I also feel excited, flustered, and awkward.” In between takes, the duo keep the atmosphere light as they make jokes with the props and poke fun at one another.
Lee Se Young adds, “Apart from everything else, it would’ve been great if he were just a regular guy [and not the King]. The King is someone who cannot drop everything just for me. I have a line like this: ‘If you give someone everything, you will want to receive everything from them.’ But the King is someone who cannot do that.”
