Watch: Kim Nam Gil Holds Back His Rage In Order To Calmly Analyze The Mind Of A Killer In

SBS’s upcoming drama “Through the Darkness” has released a third teaser!

Set in the late 1990s, “Through the Darkness” is based on the story of the first criminal profiler in South Korea, who looked into the hearts of serial killers at a time when random, motiveless murders were on the rise and the word “profiling” did not yet exist.

Kim Nam Gil stars as Song Ha Young, a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Criminal Behavior Analysis team. Jin Sun Kyu plays friend and colleague Guk Young Soo, who originally brought Song Ha Young into the Criminal Behavior Analysis team.

In the third teaser, released on December 31, the drama sets up a time period in which it was considered strange to want to interview criminals. Song Ha Young and Guk Young Soo directly meet with and interview criminals in order to understand the criminal mind. Although the criminals sneer at and taunt them, the two men remain calm and unshaken. Song Ha Young explains, “We’re people who analyze the cause and reason for why these things happen.”

About the work of a profiler, he says, “A profiler’s question is a kind of temptation. If you want to get something, then you have to thoroughly understand it. You have to hold back your own rage. I have to become… you.” In order to prevent future crimes, he walks into hearts of evil and learns what a cruel and terrible place it is. However, he never gives up, chasing down the killer through the results of his analyses.

“Through the Darkness” premieres on January 14 at 10 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser below!
