Kim Da Mi Talks About Reuniting With Choi Woo Shik, Her Ideal Type, And Her High School Days

After the end of “Our Beloved Summer,” Kim Da Mi opened up about her experience working on the show and more!

“Our Beloved Summer” is about ex-couple Choi Woong (Choi Woo Shik) and Guk Yeon Soo (Kim Da Mi), whose relationship did not end on good terms. Years later, the documentary they filmed in high school suddenly gains popularity, and they’re forced to be together in front of the camera once more. The drama recently concluded with a personal best in viewership ratings.

Throughout the drama “Our Beloved Summer,” Kim Da Mi’s character Guk Yeon Soo, distanced herself from relationships in order to not get hurt. But in front of the ones she loves, she showed off her various sides, giving off a fresh charm. In the drama, Kim Da Mi reunited with Choi Woo Shik, who she had acted with three years previously in the movie “The Witch: Subversion.” Although they sometimes bickered, they were able to show a fun love. When speaking about Choi Woo Shik, the actress said, “We know each other so well, and because we’re so comfortable with each other, we were able to act comfortably. I was grateful for everything in each scene.”

Continuing on, Kim Da Mi explained she didn’t expect the show to be so popular. She said, “I didn’t think that this many people would like the show. Reading the script was fun and when I heard Choi Woo Shik was going to be starring opposite me I thought it would be fun. The director and writer were younger than I thought. We chatted like friends and so I think we were able to have more fun. I think I thought, ‘If we have fun, then they’ll like it.'”

When discussing her ideal type when dating, she said, “Of course it depends on the other person, but I’m usually the type of person that likes to show diverse sides of myself that other people don’t know about. My ideal type is someone who can hold a conversation well.”

Among the male characters in the show, she picked Choi Woong as the one closest to her ideal type. “Woong just looks at one person and does his best. From Yeon Soo’s perspective, there’s a part of Woong that can’t express himself but when he looks at Yeon Soo, he feels better,” the actress said.

She later reflected on her younger days, specifically talking about when she was in high school. She explained, “When I think about my time in high school, I was always tired and dozing off. I studied normally. I’d wanted to act since I was little, so even then I was attending acting school and dreaming of becoming an actor. I thought about how I wanted to go to the year-end awards ceremonies someday, but when I achieved that through ‘The Witch: Subversion,’ I couldn’t believe it. Actually even now, it still doesn’t feel real. I’m grateful that I can keep doing the activities that I wished for.”
