Lovelyz's Mijoo Candidly Shares Her Thoughts About Her Image On Variety Shows, Her Activities As A Singer, And More

Lovelyz’s Mijoo participated in a pictorial and interview with Elle!

Mijoo shared her thoughts about various topics, and she started off by naming her role model. She said, “Even before my debut, Lee Hyori sunbaenim was my role model. I always thought it was cool that she is so amazing on stage while showing her own charms on variety shows. I thought I wanted to learn that part and be a woman like her who works hard in every way. I haven’t seen her in person yet though.”

When asked what it’s like to film with the “The Sixth Sense” cast members JessiJun So Min, and Oh Na Ra who are all older than her, Mijoo laughed as she replied, “First of all, it’s nice to be adored as the youngest member. I often feel their matureness when I see them being considerate and understanding situations. I’m learning a lot [from them].”

The interviewer also asked where she gets the confidence that people will like her honest and lively self, to which she answered, “I think I believe in myself. Of course, I have to control my tempo, but I just really enjoy [the situation]. I also wanted to show my honest self to people who like me.”

Currently, Mijoo is part of the agency Antenna, the home of many musicians, including Jung Seung Hwan, Sam Kim, Jukjae, Kwon Jin Ah, Lee Jin Ah, and Jung Jae Hyung. Concerning her activities as a singer, the idol commented, “All artists in Antenna have their own distinct styles. It’s also a place that respects those styles [to the point where] they even ask me, ‘What do you think about this? How is it?’ I had an expectation that I could find my own style with them.”

Mijoo also shared what she ultimately wants to do well. She stated, “I want to perform well as a singer, which is my main job. I want to do everything well, including dancing and singing. I’m preparing a lot by myself.”

Then she mentioned when she thinks she grew the most. She said, “After working hard, I looked back and thought, ‘I’ve accomplished something though.’ I realize that I’ve grown a lot when I feel that I’m getting used to something little by little and getting to know it. There is still a long way to go, so I think I should continue to work hard in the future.”

When asked what she thinks is a “good person,” Mijoo replied, “People who work hard and are transparent! There are people who are good at joking around, have nothing else on their minds, and gives off the feeling that they’re doing a job purely because they love it. When I’m with people like that, I think, ‘How did I meet such a good person?'”

On whether she is someone who gives advice when people come to her with trouble, she explained, “I listen first. Even if I give advice, the other person may not want to hear it. Rather, I encourage them that they can do it, or I comfort them by saying it would be good if they thought about the matter a little more deeply.”

It’s been nine years since Mijoo debuted. The interviewer asked if there was anything that she realized she didn’t like doing. She responded with a “no,” saying, “Of course, I’m a person, so there are times when it’s difficult. But I don’t think I’ve ever felt that I can’t do it or that it’s too hard. I’m not always full of confidence, but just like the saying ‘if you can’t avoid it, enjoy it,’ it’s all about perspective. On days when I feel a little less confident, I listen to exciting songs and keep thinking, ‘I can do this!'”
