Update: HaHa, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, And Yang Se Chan Test Positive For COVID-19

HaHa has become the fourth member of “Running Man” to be diagnosed with COVID-19, following Kim Jong Kook, Yang Se Chan, and Ji Suk Jin.

On February 12, HaHa’s agency Quan Entertainment released the following statement:

Hello, this is Quan Entertainment.

We are informing you that our artist HaHa learned on February 12 that he has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

On February 9, HaHa used a self-test kit and tested negative, but on the afternoon of February 10, he began to feel unwell and developed symptoms including a sore throat, so he cancelled his schedule and voluntarily went into self-quarantine. On February 11, he used a rapid antigen test and tested positive, and this morning (February 12), his PCR test results ultimately came back positive.

HaHa previously received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and he has currently halted all scheduled activities and is taking all necessary measures in accordance with the guidelines of government health authorities.

We will make efforts to ensure HaHa’s treatment and speedy recovery, and we will continue to adhere to disease control guidelines in the future and do our utmost to ensure the health and safety of both our artists and everyone else.

After both Kim Jong Kook and Yang Se Chan were diagnosed with COVID-19, Ji Suk Jin has now tested positive for the virus as well.

On the morning of February 11, Ji Suk Jin’s agency officially confirmed, “Ji Suk Jin has tested positive for COVID-19.” According to his agency, the star previously received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and he currently has no other symptoms apart from a mild headache.

Updated February 10 KST: 

Yang Se Chan has also tested positive for COVID-19.

His agency, SM C&C, stated, “Yang Se Chan has received a positive result on his COVID-19 PCR test.” Yang Se Chan has completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and is currently experiencing no particular symptoms. According to his agency, he came into close contact with a confirmed case and took a PCR test, which came back negative. He went into self-quarantine and took a second PCR test, which came back positive. The agency also clarified that he had not participated in the “Running Man” recording on February 7 because of his self-quarantine.

The “Running Man” production staff stated, “We had no filming planned for next week, so there are no issues with the broadcast schedule. There have been no positive results among the staff.”

Ji Suk Jin has also received a positive result on his rapid test and is awaiting the results of his PCR test. Yoo Jae Suk, HaHa, Jun So Min, and Song Ji Hyo have thus far tested negative.

On February 10, his agency Turbo JK Company released the following statement:

Hello, this is Turbo JK Company.

We are informing you that our artist Kim Jong Kook has tested positive for COVID-19 today (February 10).

Kim Jong Kook felt mild cold symptoms on February 9, so he preemptively tested himself with a self-testing kit, and the results were positive. He then underwent PCR testing and was officially diagnosed with COVID-19 today.

Kim Jong Kook has completed two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and he is currently not experiencing any major health problems. He has halted all his scheduled activities and is taking necessary measures according to the directions of the disease control authorities.

We will do our best for the treatment and rapid recovery of Kim Jong Kook, and we will continue to follow the guidelines of the disease control authorities and put the health and safety of our artists and staff members first.

SBS also commented about Kim Jong Kook’s variety programs “Running Man” and “My Little Old Boy,” saying, “Since there were no other recording schedules for the two programs before and after Kim Jong Kook tested positive [for COVID-19], it is expected that there will be no major disruptions in future broadcasting. The quarantine period has been shortened to seven days, and there is no recording scheduled within that time, so the broadcast [of the programs] will not be affected.”
