Lee Sung Kyung And Kim Young Dae Dish On Working Together For New Drama "Sh**ting Stars"

In a recent interview and pictorial for Elle magazine, Lee Sung Kyung and Kim Young Dae talked about their upcoming drama “Sh**ting Stars“!

“Shooting Star” is a new tvN romantic comedy about the people who work behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. Lee Sung Kyung will star as Oh Han Byul, the head of the PR team at an entertainment agency, while Kim Young Dae will play her nemesis, the troublemaking A-list star Gong Tae Sung.

Describing his character, Kim Young Dae remarked, “[Gong Tae Sung] is a very lighthearted role, to the point where I find myself wondering, ‘Is this really okay?’ Out of all the characters I’ve played until now, I think he’s the most relatable and also the most similar to my own personality, so I’m looking forward to [the drama premiering]. I’m curious to see people’s reactions.”

Meanwhile, Lee Sung Kyung expressed her excitement at being able to take viewers “behind the scenes” of the entertainment industry.

“Although it’s very familiar to me, many people are still curious about the hidden side of the entertainment industry, and there’s a joy in being able to show them that side,” she said. “As an actor, that aspect of the drama is both fun and refreshing.”

The two co-stars also spoke highly of one another and their experience working together. Lee Sung Kyung noted, “We both have a lot of positive energy on set. If I’m the type who has a lot of spirit, Young Dae is the type to approach people and toss out cute jokes, which creates a really great atmosphere on set.”

Meanwhile, out of all of Lee Sung Kyung’s past projects, Kim Young Dae chose her drama “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” as the one he found most memorable.

Praising his co-star’s personality, the actor added, “Just like Bok Joo, [Lee Sung Kyung] is down-to-earth, cheerful, and easygoing in real life. She’s particularly good at taking care of other people. There’s a lot to respect and admire about her.”

Finally, both actors shared their determination to keep working hard and pushing forward in their respective careers

Lee Sung Kyung commented, “Even if it’s physically exhausting, when I work, I feel like I’m becoming healthier.”

Meanwhile, Kim Young Dae observed, “When you work hard, I don’t think your efforts are immediately rewarded, but I do think you’re definitely building up to something [that will pay off in the future]. That’s why it’s important to be consistent and keep going. Because you don’t know whether that effort will show its value in an unexpected way.”
