Choi Hyun Wook And Hong Kyung Confirmed Alongside Park Ji Hoon For New Action Drama

Choi Hyun Wook and Hong Kyung will be joining Park Ji Hoon in the new drama “Weak Hero” (literal title)!

Upcoming wavve drama “Weak Hero” is a school action drama based on a popular webtoon of the same name. The story follows Yeon Si Eun, a model student in the top 1 percent who appears weak on the outside, as he fights against the violence that unfolds at and outside of school using his brains and analytical skills. The eight-part series will be written and helmed by director Yoo Soo Min who won Best Film at the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival.

Park Ji Hoon will be playing the leading role of Yeon Si Eun. Although he is naturally frail, he uses his brain and tools to develop a unique and strategic fighting style to win his battles and to eventually dominate the school, creating a new type of hero. Although Yeon Si Eun is an outsider by his own will since he isn’t interested in anything besides studying, he finds something more important than his studies after getting entangled with Ahn Su Ho and Oh Beom Seok. The actor previously impressed with his roles in “Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency,” “Love Revolution,” and “At a Distance Spring is Green.”

Choi Hyun Wook will be taking on the role of Ahn Su Ho who is an honest and free soul. Although he is not very interested in school besides graduating with perfect attendance like he promised his grandmother, he begins to gradually develop a friendship with Yeon Si Eun and Oh Beom Seok. Since winning Best New Actor at the 2021 SBS Drama Awards for his performances in “Racket Boys” and “Taxi Driver,” Choi Hyun Wook also captivated viewers with his recent role in “Twenty Five, Twenty One.”

Hong Kyung, who won Best New Actor at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards for the film “Innocence” and left a strong impression on viewers with the dramas “D.P.” and “Lovers of the Red Sky,” will be playing the role of Yeon Si Eun and Ahn Su Ho’s friend Oh Beom Seok. While idolizing Si Eun for becoming a “weak hero” and Su Ho for his honest and refreshing personality, Oh Beom Seok starts to harbor aspirations in his heart. Hong Kyung will skillfully and realistically portray Oh Beom Seok’s complicated emotions.
