Shin Hyun Bin Is A Genius Cryptanalyst Who Gets Swept Up In Nightmarish Events In "Monstrous"

“Monstrous” has shared a deeper look of Shin Hyun Bin’s new character!

TVING’s upcoming horror drama “Monstrous” is about the people who are lured in by a curse from “that thing” that shouldn’t have come out into the world and tells the story of archaeologists who chase after monstrous cases that have never been heard of. As a village gets swept up in disaster with the discovery of a mysterious possessed statue of the Buddha, the confusion from the people who face the strange terror and the process of chasing after it will deliver great suspense to viewers.

Goo Kyo Hwan plays eccentric archaeologist Jung Ki Hoon who researches bizarre supernatural phenomena. Following the death of his one and only daughter, Jung Ki Hoon starts up an occult YouTube channel titled “Monthly Ghost Stories” and is faced with a strange and unbelievable phenomenon while investigating the Buddhist statue found in Jinyang County.

Shin Hyun Bin stars as the genius pattern cryptanalyst Lee Soo Jin who ends up having to face a terrible disaster. After losing her only daughter, Lee Soo Jin puts down everything to return to Jinyang County where she begins to experience inexplicable events.

The newly released stills amplifies curiosity about Lee Soo Jin as it shows her being greatly affected by the cursed statue. In one photo, she exudes confidence and intelligence as she gives a professional presentation about her research. However, the next stills show her being trapped in confusing and chaotic situations. Lee Soo Jin appears bewitched as if she has been possessed by something, and her face shadows with fear as she comes face to face with unsettling events. Her empty gaze gives a small hint about the deep sadness in her heart. Strange things will occur in Jinyang Country, and Lee Soo Jin will encounter her own personal hell as she becomes swallowed up by supernatural disasters.

Shin Hyun Bin shared that she was drawn to the powerful story, which was made her accept her role. She commented, “The familiar yet new parts seemed attractive. The relationship or conflict of the characters may be familiar, but the situations they were placed were new.” She added that the setting about how, if you fall into the curse, you will face the hell in your heart, really hit her emotionally.

The actress continued, “Lee Soo Jin is a person who lost herself when she lost her child. She gets swept up in confusion by the sudden incidents, but she eventually finds her true self through them.”
