Kwak Dong Yeon, Go Sung Hee, Kang Min Ah, And Bae Hyun Sung Confirmed For New Webtoon-Based Drama
On May 16, the cast lineup for the upcoming webtoon-based drama “Gaus Electronics” (literal title) was confirmed. The original webtoon experienced great success, reaching 2.6 billion total views and receiving rave reviews across the world for its realistic yet humorous depiction of office life. “Gaus Electronics” will cover struggles that all office workers will relate to as well as office romance and friendships.
Kwak Dong Yeon will be taking on the role of Lee Sang Sik, a difficult character working in the third branch of the marketing department for Gaus Electronics. He’s an extremely obtuse person who doesn’t shy away from speaking his mind when others, even his seniors, say things that don’t align with his views. He is a stickler for common sense, and because of his strong convictions in a reality where common sense doesn’t always work, he somehow becomes the center of conflict. It will be interesting to see how Kwak Dong Yeon, who previously delivered stellar performances in projects like “Monstrous,” “Vincenzo,” and “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” will take on this troublemaker of a character.
Lee Sang Sik causes the most headaches for his senior Cha Na Rae, played by Go Sung Hee. Go Sung Hee’s previous works include “King Maker: The Change of Destiny,” “Suits,” and “Mother.” As the assistant manager of the same branch in the marketing department, Cha Na Rae is efficient and always on top of her work. She has a fiery personality that explodes uncontrollably once in a while, but she is a bit up in the clouds when it comes to anything besides work in her everyday life.
Bae Hyun Sung will take on the role of Baek Ma Tan, the next in line to take over Power Group, Korea’s No. 2 company and Gaus Electronics’ biggest rival. In an attempt to make out his own path beyond his father’s sphere of influence, Baek Ma Tan starts working at Gaus Electronics. In his new role as Baek Ma Tan, Bae Hyun Sung will impress with a new side of him through a more comical role than his previous roles in “Extraordinary You,” “Our Blues,” and “Hospital Playlist.”
Finally, Kang Min Ah will transform into employee Gun Gang Mi. While Baek Ma Tan comes from a family of immense wealth, his co-worker Gun Gang Mi comes from a family on the opposite end of the spectrum. She is crazily tough on herself and makes painstaking efforts to stay in shape. Thanks to this, she is considered to be one of the prettiest employees at the office. But when she gets drunk, her huge appetite which she has been suppressing takes over, and she transforms into the Hulk. Gun Gang Mi hosts two starkly different personas, and viewers will get to see Kang Min Ah portray both in “Gaus Electronics.” Kang Min Ah made her mark through previous performances in “Park Hwa Young,” “True Beauty,” and “Beyond Evil.”
“Gaus Electronics” will be the first time Kwak Dong Yeon, Go Sung Hee, Bae Hyun Sung, and Kang Min Ah work together. They will bring the four peculiar characters with their own quirks to life in the series. Producer Seo Soo Min, who worked on “Gag Concert,” “The Producers,” and “The Sound of Your Heart,” will participate as a creator, and producer Park Joon Soo, who worked on “The God of Music” and “M Countdown,” will helm “Gaus Electronics.”
The show is set to premiere in the second half of 2022!
