Veteran MC Song Hae Passes Away

Veteran MC Song Hae has passed away at the age of 95 on June 8.

Born in 1927, Song Hae learned vocal music at Haeju Art School, and he made his debut in 1955 through the Changgong Theater Company after coming down to Busan in 1951 during the period of the Korean War. In addition to starring in a KBS drama, Song Hae also starred in entertainment shows such as KBS2’s “A Look at Myself,” MBC TV’s “All Broadcasting in the World,” TV Chosun’s “The Golden Age of Alternate Characters,” (literal titles) and more. In 2015, he also won the 10th Korea Social Contribution Special Award.

As the oldest active MC, Song Hae hosted KBS’s “National Singing Contest” from 1988 for 34 years, meeting over 10 million people nationwide during his time on the show. He recently received the title of the Oldest TV Music Talent Show Host by the Guinness World Records.
