Watch: Cube Rookie Girl Group LIGHTSUM Covers Girls' Generation And (G)I-DLE On "Weekly Idol"

LIGHTSUM showed off their many talents on the latest episode of “Weekly Idol”!

The rookie Cube Entertainment girl group appeared as guests on the June 8 episode of the MBC every 1 variety show, where they performed their new title track “ALIVE” and played various fun games together with the MCs.

For the program’s signature “Weekly Playlist” segment, LIGHTSUM prepared a dance cover of Girls’ Generation’s iconic 2015 hit “Lion Heart.”

When asked why they had chosen “Lion Heart” in particular, Juhyeon explained that they thought the song was perfect for summer, before adding, “Girls’ Generation is a group that we’ve always really admired and that we consider our role models. So we wanted to have fun and do a proper cover.”

At another point in the show, a couple of the LIGHTSUM members faced off with the MCs in a lighthearted dance battle. For one of the rounds, Juhyeon and host Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk went head-to-head with impromptu covers of LIGHTSUM’s labelmate (G)I-DLE’s latest hit “TOMBOY.”

Later on, Chowon also performed a brief a cappella cover of Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon’s hit song “Four Seasons.”
