BTS Becomes 1st Foreign Artist In History To Top Oricon's Weekly Album Chart With 10 Different Albums

Once again, BTS has made Oricon history in Japan!

On June 21, Oricon officially announced that BTS had topped its latest weekly album chart with their new anthology album “Proof,” which achieved the highest first-week sales of any album released in Japan this year.

“Proof” sold an impressive total of 514,000 copies in Japan alone from June 13 to 19, and Oricon stated, “The first-week sales of ‘Proof,’ [which sold] 514,000 copies, have set a record for the highest first-week sales on our weekly album chart this year.”

Not only did “Proof” achieve the highest first-week sales of 2022 in Japan, but the anthology album also achieved the fifth-highest first-week sales in Oricon history—bested only by Mariah Carey’s “The Ones,” BoA‘s “VALENTI,” and BTS’s own albums “BTS, THE BEST” and “Map of the Soul: 7 ~The Journey~.”

Additionally, BTS has now become the first foreign artist in Oricon history to top the weekly album chart with 10 different albums, extending their own record for the most No. 1 albums of any foreign artist.

Congratulations to BTS on their new record!
