Kim Sejeong Depicts Different Kinds Of Chemistry With Mentor Choi Daniel And Co-Worker Nam Yoon Su

Upcoming SBS drama “Today’s Webtoon” has shared a new glimpse of its lead cast!

“Today’s Webtoon” is a Korean remake of the popular 2016 Japanese drama “Sleepeeer Hit!” The drama will tell the story of On Ma Eum (Kim Sejeong), a former judo athlete who joins Neon Webtoon’s editorial department as a new employee and struggles to mature into a true webtoon editor amidst South Korea’s competitive webtoon industry.

Kim Sejeong will star as On Ma Eum who gives up on her Olympic dreams after suffering an injury. However, the optimist then sets her sights on webtoons, which has been her source of comfort since she was an athlete. She enters the webtoon editorial department after beating all odds, and she’s a rookie employee who lives with a positive attitude despite having to overcome many adversities.

Choi Daniel will take on the role of Seok Ji Hyung, an unpredictable deputy editor with an unreadable poker face who becomes a dependable mentor for On Ma Eum. Although he can be brutally honest, Seok Ji Hyung is also a supportive editor who takes good care of his younger colleagues and the webtoon writers he works with. Nevertheless, outside of work, he shows a more clumsy side with his various charms and silly jokes.

Nam Yoon Su will transform into On Ma Eum’s co-worker Goo Joon Young who enters the company at the same time as her. He also boasts an impressive IQ of 150 and aims to be the best of the best. He’s always in the spotlight wherever he goes, so he’s confident that he’ll be a key figure at Neon, but he gets confused when he’s assigned to the webtoon editorial department.

The newly released stills show On Ma Eum’s very different relationships with Seok Ji Hyung and Goo Joon Young. First off, Seok Ji Hyung will become On Ma Eum’s dependable mentor. Sure, he can be harsh at times, but he’s supportive of his younger colleagues, and he will help On Ma Eum as she strives to thrive in her new career. Seok Ji Hyung especially has a soft spot for her because her passion and grit reminds him of his past days when he was a rookie employee. One of the key points of the drama is Seok Ji Hyung and On Ma Eum’s teamwork that will be built on trust.

On the other hand, On Ma Eum’s chemistry with Goo Joon Young is a mystery as it’s not revealed whether it’s a negative or positive one considering they have very different personalities. Goo Joon Young has only walked on a bed of roses, and he thought everything in his career would flow smoothly, but he becomes disappointed when he ends up in the editorial department where On Ma Eum is happy to be part of. It will be intriguing to see how Goo Joon Young’s attitude towards webtoons and his relationship with On Ma Eum will change as the story progresses.

The producers teased, “One of the important things that many office workers consider is the relationship with colleagues. On Ma Eum, who has set foot in a company for the first time, will also become a real office worker by either joining forces or engaging in conflicts with different people. Her relationships with Seok Ji Hyung and Goo Joon Young, who will influence her the most during that process, will be drawn realistically. There will be an entertaining time of empathy where real office workers will watch while nodding their head [in agreement with the plot developments].”

“Today’s Webtoon” will premiere on July 29 at 10 p.m. KST.
