BTS To Hold Global Concert This October As Ambassadors Of The 2030 Busan World Expo

BTS will be holding a concert in Busan this October!

On July 7, the first strategy meeting for the 2030 Busan World Expo was held at the bid committee’s Seoul office to discuss promotional activities. Present at the meeting was Park Jung Wook, the secretary general of the 2030 Busan World Expo bidding committee, Lee Sung Kwon, the deputy economic mayor of Busan, and Park Ji Won, the CEO of HYBE.

During the meeting, the representatives discussed plans for BTS’s appointment ceremony as ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo, the bidding committee’s desire to hold a global concert for the Expo, voting strategies for the upcoming International Exposition Organization (BIE) general meeting, and more.

Following discussions, the bidding committee decided upon an ambassador appointment ceremony for BTS later this month, as well as a global BTS concert held this October in Busan to spread the word of the 2030 Busan World Expo all over the world.

Secretary general Park Jung Wook shared, “We thank HYBE for their active cooperation. We are confident that BTS’s support for the 2030 Busan World Expo will be of huge strength for the bidding of Busan, amidst this competitive situation. We will engage in recruitment negotiations, with the  government also doing everything in its capacity.”

Lee Sung Kwon commented, “This was a meaningful meeting where we could discuss concrete measures as soon as possible, after signing the memorandum of understanding [MOU]. In the future too, the city of Busan will work with the government to actively support BTS, a global icon and representative of Korean culture, in their promotions as the ambassador of the 2030 Busan World Expo.”

HYBE’s Park Ji Won shared, “With the business agreement made with the city of Busan as the foundation, we will propose cooperative measures in various fields and plan to actively cooperate for Busan’s bidding of the 2030 Busan World Expo, a business that is important on a national scale.”

HYBE and the city of Busan signed a memorandum of understanding for the bidding of the 2030 Busan World Expo on June 24. At the MOU signing, CEO Park Ji Won with Bang Si Hyuk, the chairman of the board of directors at HYBE. As ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo, BTS plans to participate in a wide variety of promotional activities.
