aespa Breaks Record Of Highest 1st-Week Sales For Girl Group With Over 1 Million Albums Sold

aespa has set another impressive record!

On July 8, the girl group made their highly-anticipated comeback with their second mini album “Girls” and its title track of the same name.

According to Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) on July 14, aespa’s “Girls” sold 1,426,487 copies in the first week. aespa became the first girl group to reach such a milestone. (The previous record belonged to BLACKPINK‘s “THE ALBUM,” which sold 680,000 copies back in 2020. However, if the range is expanded to female solo artists, then Lisa‘s first solo album “Lalisa” surpassed her group’s record with 736,221 copies being sold.)

With this achievement, aespa became the second girl group to become a million seller. However, with BLACKPINK making a comeback in August, “THE ALBUM” is also being sold again, so the final sales records have yet to be settled.

Previously, aespa’s “Girls” surpassed 1 million stock pre-orders, which is the highest number of stock pre-orders ever recorded for a girl group, and the mini album sold an impressive total of 806,891 copies on July 8 alone, setting a new record for the highest first-day sales by any female artist in Hanteo history.

The number of stock pre-orders is the amount of album stock that is produced prior to the album’s release. This number is the estimated demand calculated based on various factors, including the number of albums that were pre-ordered by fans.

Congratulations to aespa!
