Girls’ Generation Cancels This Week’s Music Show Promotions After Seohyun Is Diagnosed With COVID-19
Girls’ Generation has cancelled their music show promotions scheduled for this week due to Seohyun testing positive for COVID-19.
On August 9, Girls’ Generation announced that Seohyun had been diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier that day and had temporarily halted all of her activities.
As a result, the group had no choice but to cancel their scheduled appearances on the upcoming August 11 episode of Mnet’s “M Countdown” and the August 14 episode of SBS’s “Inkigayo,” which would have marked their first music show promotions as a group in five years.
Girls’ Generation’s full statement is as follows:
Seohyun was diagnosed with COVID-19 today (August 9).
Therefore, Seohyun immediately halted all of her scheduled activities and is currently getting treatment and rest, and Girls’ Generation’s music show promotions that were scheduled for this week (“M Countdown,” “Inkigayo”) have unavoidably been cancelled. We ask for fans’ understanding.
Meanwhile, Seohyun took to Instagram Stories to personally apologize to her fans and bandmates after the announcement.
Seohyun wrote, “SONE [Girls’ Generation’s fan club], who must have waited for our promotions more longingly than anyone… and my [Girls’ Generation] unnies [older sisters or female friends]… I’m sorry. I was healthy, so I didn’t think I’d get [COVID-19]… but in the end, I wound up catching it. I’m really so disappointed and feel so sorry… I’ll recover quickly, so let’s meet in good health on the day of next week’s music show!”
Last week, Girls’ Generation made their first comeback as a full group with their seventh studio album “FOREVER 1” and its title track of the same name.
Wishing Seohyun the speediest of recoveries!
