IU, Suzy, GOT7's Jinyoung, And More Donate To Aid Flood Relief Efforts

Celebrities are donating to help those affected by Korea’s ongoing heavy rains and flooding!

Reported to be South Korea’s heaviest rainfall in 80 years, these recent rains have flooded residential areas, caused thousands to evacuate, damaged homes and shops, and triggered mudslides.

According to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, GOT7’s Jinyoung donated 30 million won (approximately $23,035) to assist in water damage restoration. The money will be used to restore areas affected by torrential rains and to help the victims.

The same association reported that WINNER’s Kim Jin Woo also stepped in to help with the victims of flooding. They shared, “Kim Jin Woo donated 10 million won (approximately $7,678) and asked us to use it [to help] the flood victims.”

Kim Hye Soo, Yoo Jae Suk, Suzy, IU, and Jay Park each donated 100 million won (approximately $76,783) to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association. They made the thoughtful gestures to help the victims of flooding return to their normal lives as soon as possible and to assist the restoration of the areas damaged by the torrential rain.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” actor Kang Tae Oh pitched in to the cause by donating 20 million won (approximately $15,357).

According to the Community Chest of Korea, Han Ji Min made a generous donation of 50 million won (approximately $38,391). The actress commented, “I learned about a welfare facility for the severely disabled through the news, and I made a donation after hearing that it suffered from a flood a few days ago.”

Park Na Rae, who recently suffered from an injury while filming a commercial, donated 10 million won, which will be used for water damage restoration, relief supplies, and housing support. Her agency JDB Entertainment shared, “Park Na Rae, who is hospitalized after surgery for a cruciate ligament injury, was heartbroken about the great damage that was caused by the torrential rain. She decided to donate money in hopes that the victims will return to their daily lives as soon as possible.”

WM Entertainment revealed that Oh My Girl’s Arin donated 20 million won to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association in order to help the flood victims. Her agency shared, “Arin was very sad to hear about her neighbors who lost their homes in the torrential rain. She decided to donate in hopes that it would help the victims return to their daily lives.”

Furthermore, PSY contributed 100 million won to the Korean Red Cross. The organization commented, “Psy donated 100 million won to the Red Cross to support relief efforts for victims of torrential rains in the central region. He donated to share the pain of neighbors who lost their homes due to sudden heavy rains and to help them recover from the affected areas.”

Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association also reported that actress Kim Go Eun and WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon each made a donation of 50 million won. Their donations will be used to aid the flood victims and restore the areas damaged by the flood.

Yoon Se Ah revealed on her Instagram account that she also made a donation of 10 million won to the Korea Disaster Relief Association and wrote, “Stay strong!”
