Watch: BTOB’s Yook Sungjae Seizes The Opportunity To Change His Fate In Teaser For New Fantasy Drama

MBC’s new Friday-Saturday series “Golden Spoon” (literal translation) has unveiled an intriguing teaser!

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Golden Spoon” is a new drama about a student born into a poor family who uses a magical golden spoon to swap fates with a friend born into a wealthy family. BTOB’s Yook Sungjae will be starring as Lee Seung Chun, the student who hopes to turn his life around with the titular golden spoon.

The newly released stills show Lee Seung Chun’s turbulent life. Someone grabs his shoulder to hold him down as he sobs wretchedly, and a voiceover comments, “You’ll always be a ‘dirt spoon,'” commenting on his status as someone who comes from a poor family.

Lee Seung Chun suffers from his poor environment, and none of his family members look happy. Eventually, he explodes, “Our debt is 400 million won (approximately $299,641)!”

On the other hand, his wealthy friend Hwang Tae Yong (played by Lee Jong Won) has enjoyed every privilege growing up. He lives in a huge mansion, and the maids wait on him hand and foot. A mysterious old lady (played by Song Ok Sook) tells Lee Seung Chun, “Go to the house of someone who is of the same age as you and eat with that spoon three times. His parents will become your parents.”

Lee Seung Chun greedily digs in with the golden spoon, and Hwang Tae Yong’s father asks, “Do you always take that golden spoon with you?” He replies, “I’m thinking of changing my fate,” piquing curiosity about what will happen after he follows the elderly woman’s mystical directions.
