10 Actors Who Perfectly Played Idols In K-Dramas

It’s always so entertaining to see a K-drama actor play an idol in a series. There is always the hope that they will do a bit of dancing, singing, or rapping, especially if this is a side that fans have never seen before! Lucky for us, there are quite a few K-dramas where actors have played idols.

1. Choi Tae Joon in “So I Married the Anti-Fan

“So I Married the Anti-Fan” stars Choi Tae Joon as Who Joon, a top star who is very arrogant and full of himself. Sooyoung stars as Lee Geun Young, a magazine reporter who despises Who Joon and is his ultimate “anti-fan.” Destiny brings them together as they are both offered to participate in a reality show where a celebrity and his anti-fan are to live together. They both accept the offer as a result of some difficult personal situations, and they obviously fall in love!

When it was announced that Choi Tae Joon would be taking on the role of Who Joon from the popular webtoon, people were pleasantly surprised that they cast an actor and not an idol-actor. From the trailer, people could already anticipate that he would be able to sell the role perfectly, especially with his sleek hair and leather jacket. Here’s hoping that he will play an idol again in the future!

Jeong Ji So suited the role of a K-pop idol so perfectly that it was almost hard to believe that she wasn’t one in real life. Her cute stature and adorable dancing made her an irresistible character and one that proved her capabilities of playing an idol flawlessly. Alongside Jung Ji So was Ahn Jung Hun, who played Han Jae Woo, one of the members of the idol group SHAX. He was another actor who made it hard to believe that he wasn’t an idol in real life. Yoon Sang Hyun as the loud and hilarious Oska in “Secret Garden” was the perfect addition to this already great series. In order to become a group, there are some interesting tasks that the producer asks for the them to go through.

There are a few actual idols in the series, but Kim Hee Jung and Hwang Seung Eon in particular are actors who are playing idols. Kim Hee Jung is perfect in depicting a trainee who so desperately wants to debut. Her willingness to do whatever she can in order to become a superstar is heartfelt and really shows what idol life is like. 6. Yoon Shi Yoon in “The Best Hit

There’s so much to love about “The Best Hit.” With its star-studded cast of Yoon Shi Yoon, Lee Se Young, Kim Min Jae, Cha Tae Hyun, Lee Deok Hwa, and Cha Eun Woo, you can expect to be entertained. Yoon Shi Yoon’s role as Yoo Hyung Jae was so believable as he even performed live on “Music Bank.” He made a surprise appearance on the music show to promote his series, but it also showed how hard he had been working in order to prepare for the role. The retro outfits and song brought a nostalgic feel to the performance, making his character so real and believable. He really did a great job acting out the idol part!

“You’re Beautiful” is a classic K-drama starring Jang Geun Suk as Hwang Tae Kyung and Park Shin Hye as Go Mi Nam. Go Mi Nam joins Tae Kyung’s rock group in replacement of her twin brother, but as the other group members slowly catch on that Mi Nam is actually a girl, they start to develop strong feelings for her.

Park Shin Hye plays both twin siblings Go Mi Nam and Go Mi Nyeo. Go Mi Nyeo must replace her brother, who has been unable to be active with the group. Mi Nyeo gets thrown into the K-pop world, trying to figure out the ins and outs of fitting in so that people do not find out her secret, which Park Shin Hye does amazingly well. Her portrayal of a sister trying to be her idol twin brother is not an easy task, but she executes it perfectly.

Jang Keun Suk plays the leader of the group and a popular rock star who has the world in his hands.
