Watch: Mimi, Exy, Yubin, And Shin Jimin Showcase Their Vocal Talent In One-On-One Battles On “The Second World”
JTBC’s “The Second World” has amped up the fun for Episode 2!
“The Second World” features eight skillful girl group rappers going head-to-head in a singing competition to break the prejudice that rappers lack vocal talent. The contestants include former Wonder Girls member Yubin, former AOA member Shin Jimin, MAMAMOO‘s Moonbyul, Oh My Girl’s Mimi, WJSN’s Exy, MOMOLAND‘s JooE, Billlie’s Moon Sua, and CLASS:y’s Kim Seonyou.
Last week, the premiere episode of “The Second World” featured a prequel round where each competitor showed off their rap talent. On September 6, the program aired its second episode where they officially began the first round of one-on-one vocal matches.
Before the competition, host Paul Kim announced the rules of “The Second World.” After four rounds, five competitors will be chosen to compete in the final round. These competitors will be chosen by their cumulative scores. In each competition, the maximum number of points to be earned are 100 from the voice readers, 200 extra points for the winner of one-on-one matches, and 300 points from global hero votes. The winner of “The Second World” will be given the opportunity to sing a solo OST for a JTBC drama and perform a special solo stage at the Golden Disk Awards.
The first title match was Mimi against Exy. Mimi went first and gave an energetic performance of Lexy’s “Into The Sky.” She impressed not only with her powerful voice, but also with her skills as a DJ.
Exy gave a completely opposite performance, channeling a retro vibe with Yoo Jae Ha’s “Melancholic Letter” and showcasing her strong and stable tone.

Winning four out of five of the voice reader’s votes, Mimi came out victorious. She commented, “I came after deciding to fight against myself for each competition. I came determined to accept the result well, no matter what it came out to, but I’m so happy. Thank you.”
The second battle was between Yubin and Shin Jimin. As soon as Yubin’s performance began, she flaunted her sultry charisma and reinterpreted Uhm Jung Hwa’s “Invitation” as her own.
Channeling her love for guitar and band, Shin Jimin chose to perform Jaurim’s “Magic Carpet Ride” and captured hearts with her unique voice tone.

With three to two votes in Shin Jimin’s favor, she won the round and shared, “I’m glad that my start is good, right from Round 1. I think I worked even harder thanks to Yubin. Thank you.”
Episode 3 will air next Tuesday at 8:50 p.m. KST and feature the two remaining battles!
