Lee Jung Jae To Play Male Lead In New “Star Wars” Series “The Acolyte”
Lee Jung Jae is headed to Hollywood!
On September 8 local time, Variety reported that the actor was confirmed to be playing the male lead in the upcoming “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte,” which will air on Disney+.
The series will also star Amandla Stenberg—who will play the female lead—and Jodie Turner-Smith,” with “Russian Doll” co-creator Leslye Headland taking the reins as showrunner, director, writer, and executive producer.
According to Variety, “The Acolyte” will go “farther back in time than any live-action ‘Star Wars’ title before,” as it will be set a full century before “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” The series is said to “depict the galaxy at the peak of the era of the High Republic, when the Jedi were at their strongest and the Sith were believed to have been eradicated from the galaxy.”
