NewJeans Becomes 1st K-Pop Group To Make Various Spotify Charts With A Debut Track
NewJeans has become the first K-pop group to make Spotify’s weekly and daily charts with a debut track!
Despite only having debuted last month, NewJeans has shot to immense popularity with their self-titled debut EP and has impressively made their mark overseas too!
On Spotify’s new Weekly Top Song USA chart that was released on September 8 local time, NewJeans’ “Attention” debuted at No. 200, making it the first-ever K-pop debut song to rank on this chart. During the tracking week, “Attention” accumulated 1,620,963 streams. Earlier this week, “Attention” also came in at No. 183 on Spotify’s Daily Top Song USA chart and steadily climbed up to No. 181.
On September 6, the combined total for all four of their songs surpassed 100,000,000 streams on Spotify, only 36 days after their EP was released. As of September 10, their monthly listeners count is over 8,610,000, which is the highest among all fourth generation girl groups.
NewJeans’ popularity doesn’t stop with the U.S., as all three of their title tracks have made it onto Spotify weekly charts around the world. “Attention” is ranked on weekly Spotify charts in 17 different regions, with “Hype Boy” in 14 regions and “Cookie” in six regions.
Spotify has additionally featured “Attention” at No. 36 on their popular playlist “Today’s Top Hits,” which is followed by more than 31 million users all over the globe. The only other K-pop artists that have been featured on this list are BTS and BLACKPINK.
