Shin Ye Eun, Ryeo Woon, Kang Hoon, And Jung Gun Joo Confirmed To Star In New Historical Romance Drama
“Flower Scholars’ Love Story” (literal title) is a mysterious romance that tells the story of four youths including Yoon Dan Oh (Shin Ye Eun), the owner of the boarding house Yihwawon which is free from stereotypes, and three boarding students—known as the flower scholars—who hold secrets.
“Flower Scholars’ Love Story” is written by Kwon Eum Mi, who previously penned “Woman with a Suitcase,” “Gap Dong,” “Royal Family,” and “General Hospital 2,” and Kim Ja Hyun, who showed her deep composition skills through “Bukchon Scholar Ban’s Road to Success.” In addition, the drama will be helmed by director Kim Jung Min who directed “Royal Secret Agent,” “Queen: Love and War,” “Gunman In Joseon,” and “The Princess’s Man.”
Shin Ye Eun, who showed great acting skills through the dramas “A-TEEN,” “He Is Psychometric,” “More Than Friends,” and “Yumi’s Cells 2,” will take on the role of Yoon Dan Oh, the innkeeper of Yihwawon who rents rooms to scholars from various places. Shin Ye Eun will portray a lovely and confident female lead who will mature over time.
Ryeo Woon, who is starring in his first historical drama, will play Kang San, who has a kind heart behind his charismatic appearance. Kang San is a scholar preparing for martial arts and exudes a somewhat cold aura. He is used to being alone, but as he enters Yihwawon and meets Yoon Dan Oh and other scholars, he starts to open his heart. After his debut through “Degree of Love,” Ryeo Woon made his presence known through “Doctor Prisoner,” “Homemade Love Story,” “Through the Darkness,” and more.
Kang Hoon will take on the role of Kim Si Yeol, who is very attractive and is also cool and friendly. Kim Si Yeol is a fearless man who enjoys having fun and can’t stand injustice even when losing. After he enters Yihwawon, he becomes best friends with Yoon Dan Oh, who he gives dating advice while always bickering. Anticipation is high for the acting transformation of Kang Hoon, who was praised for his portrayals in “The Red Sleeve” and “Little Women.”
Jung Gun Joo will play Jung Yoo Ha, a scholar from a noble family who has a delicate personality and cares deeply about other people’s feelings. Since he grew up with his parents who always treated him coldly, he put in much effort to gain recognition for his presence and became intelligent. Jung Yoo Ha becomes comforted by the warmth of Yoon Dan Oh at Yihwawon, the place where he stays while preparing for the national examination. Jung Gun Joo, who became a rising star through the web drama “Flower Ever After,” will once again showcase his novel acting skills that were depicted in “Extraordinary You,” “Oh My Baby,” and “Monthly Magazine Home.”
The production team remarked, “‘Flower Scholars’ Love Story’ is a mysterious romance that will bring great excitement in the first half of 2023. Please look forward to the chemistry of Shin Ye Eun, Ryeo Woon, Kang Hoon, and Jung Gun Joo, who will return to the small screen with a youthful historical drama.”
